Why Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates builds core strength, flexibility and muscular endurance through low-impact, full-body movement. It's gentle on the joints but still challenging, which makes it a strong fit for rehab, general fitness, or complementing other training.
Reformer Pilates vs Weight Training
- Resistance: Weight training uses free weights or machines. The reformer uses adjustable springs, giving smooth resistance through the full range of motion, including the lengthening phase.
- Muscle focus: Weight training often isolates muscles to build size and maximal strength. Reformer work trains multiple muscle groups together, with constant core engagement.
- Joint load: Both are low-impact, but heavy lifting can place significant load on joints. Spring resistance is easier to scale down, making the reformer well suited to beginners, older users and rehab.
- Outcomes: Weight training is best for strength and muscle mass. Reformer Pilates excels at control, posture, mobility and endurance. Many people get the best results combining both.
